Cambodia has a great many Taiwanese and Chinese employers, and someone who speaks Chinese has a clear advantage in that job market. But Chinese teaching is concentrated in Phnom Penh, and among the families who can pay for it. A student in a province cannot move to the city for class, and a fixed in-person timetable is hard to meet. Vantage Institute uses a web learning platform, distance teaching and real people to open that road. At set times, a teacher leads practice in speaking, pronunciation and real situations. Teachers teach, give feedback and assess. Staff help students with progress, attendance and whatever is getting in the way. Chinese is taught in levels, and there is a starting point for someone who has never studied it.
